About SvenskaSpeak

SvenskaSpeak exists because of a gap you only discover by living inside it.

Our founder did what every newcomer to Sweden does: downloaded the big language apps, took the courses, learned the textbook sentences. Then he stepped outside and discovered that the Swedish people actually speak — fast, casual, full of little words the textbooks skip — was nearly a different language from the one in the apps. A cashier's question, a colleague's joke, a letter from Skatteverket: each one was a wall.

The bigger discovery came from other immigrants. People who needed Swedish to pass SFI, to get a job, to talk to their kids' teachers, to feel at home instead of translated. For them, Swedish wasn't a hobby — it was the gate between their qualifications and their life.

No app served these people well. So we built one.

What we believe

Teach the language people actually meet. That means everyday spoken Swedish alongside the standard written language, stories graded from A1 to B2, and listening built from real situations — not sentences no one says.

Respect the learner's real life. Our users study on commutes and coffee breaks. That's why SvenskaSpeak has hands-free voice practice and bite-size lessons — study that fits into the day someone actually has.

Learn words where they live. Our Picture Scenes let you step into a real everyday scene — a kitchen, a café, a bus stop — and tap objects to hear, find and say them in Swedish. Vocabulary sticks when it has a place, a sound and a picture, not just a translation.

Connect everything. Lessons, stories, grammar and review feed each other, so the words you learn come back in what you read and hear. Language sticks when it's a web, not a list.
